Groovy Program

One potentially useful program for extracting data from publications is g3data g3data Website. This excellent bit of software takes an image of a graph and allows you to tell it how big the axis are and where the points are – it then does the tedious interpolation so you can work out what the values are.

Very handy if people publish graphs without data – which is just about everyone these days! Which is a big shame, I came accross a thesis from mid 1980s recently and it had every bit of data in the thesis available in an appendix which is very useful.
